I feel comfortable using technology to connect students with each other. I would be able to teach the students how to collaborate on projects such as a presentation. For instance, for a reading 6th grade class. I could assign a summary of the book that each group read and they had to be creative in telling the class about the book. I Would introduce to them different presentation methods that could be used to complete this assignment. Example would be Prezi, iMovie, PowerPoint, google drive and so on.  I would need more preparation for “texture structure” informational text.

In my classroom I would incorporate blogs. I want to be an elementary teacher so thinking of something that little kids can use is ideal. I believe that starting in the 2nd grade students can use the blog to express themselves and learn to start using a computer for doing work. Giving them a way to write what ever is on their mind. The idea would be to make writing fun for all levels. The blog provides for commenting and sharing. For the blogs you can post other multi media on your blog page.

Creating this newsletter, I learned a lot of new stuff that I did not know that you can do in word. I like how you can add in you email and different hyperlinks to a direct webpage. This is very useful if it is an online newsletter. You can refer the parents to the exact website that the students are using and so forth. The part that needs improving is probably the content. I am still learning how to do the different set ups.

  1. Great post! I think incorporating a blog into a 2nd grade curriculum is a great idea. Just be sure that they have basic computer skills before you begin :)
