I recall the first time I used Microsoft word was in middle
school, 6th grade. We were
using it to type up book reports as well as lab reports. Teachers have used Microsoft
word to make test, type up syllabus.
They have also used it as a way to make news letters to send out to
parents or students with updates on assignments etc.
My experience so far with copyright and fair use of
materials in an educational environment would be with using PowerPoints and
taking images from the internet. In middle school we were taught that we had to
credit where we are getting the pictures from, even if we are getting them from
google images. Once you place the image or video in the slide you had to cite
where you got it from. Another example
would be for writing research papers or article critics. While writing the
paper, I would have to incorporate an outside article. Which can be challenging
because the material you get you want it to be in your own words so that it is
not considered plagiarizing. Learned that at the end of the paper you have to
have a work cited page so that anyone reading your paper or report can know
where the facts came from. For my own classroom I would make sure that the students
are citing the right way and walk them throw the process until they understand
it fully.
This past week I learned how to create a tweet to send out,
so that others can see. I learned that you can interact with others that are
interested in the same topics you are. So for example we are using the hashtag eme2040,
so that we are all connected and can see what others are posting. I believe
that PLNs can be used in the future to connect students to other students and
teachers. In order to get feedback to stay up to date on assignments and other
projects.
