ILP"Design"-IMovie

For this ILP I decided to work with iMovie, I created an iMovie for the different parts of speech: nouns, adjectives and verbs. I have not worked with iMovie in the past 10 years so a lot has changed. I had to relearn the basic functions of iMovie. There are now new features where you can actually create a trailer like movie. I decided to just stick with a regular iMovie. Working with transitions and adding audio.

I believe that I would using a data collection tool such as excel as a teacher. For my 3rd grade classroom, I will be able to record my students assignments as well as their grades for each assignment. Using excel it will place the information in one place in an organized manner, that would be easy to read and navigate on the computer.

Some topics I have found interesting were the ones about technology and how different technologies are now be used inside the classroom. Like some of the gadgets we saw inside the sandbox and going into the schools for my service learning and seeing that schools and teachers are doing their best to incorporate the different technologies.

A technology skill that I would like to learn more of would be smart boards. Since I am going right into teaching next year, I want to be familiar with the use of smart boards. I know that smart boards as a program that you are able to create your presentations and assignments in and it would be nice to learn all of that before I begin. I am going to go to the sandbox and practice.

Looking at chapter 10 they talked about the different technology for distance learning. One that I think that could be really beneficial is blended learning. Where students are getting face to face instructional learning and online learning. One of my classes at FSU was blended learning, we had to listen to the lectures outside of class and once we came to class we would discuss what we listened to and work on the assignment. So the purpose of the class is focused on practicing what the lecture was on. Turtle diary has educational videos for k-5 on math and reading. They not only have videos but games and quizzes that the teacher can use for the classroom.

Open content is similar to copy right, it gives the terms in what can be used used and reused for personal content. "Oercommons" is a great source for teachers where the author of the material gives a list of terms and conditions for the use of the materials. With this site you can search for different materials for the grade you are teaching and it will pull up material that is free to print and use by the author.

Working on the PowerPoint for information dissemination assignment I can not say that I have learned anything new by doing it. I started working with PowerPoint in the sixth grade. We had to start giving presentations in reading and social studies. Working with the animations and transitions are very cool, I like that you can write everything on the slide but have each come on at different times by adding an animation. I also like how you can add in hyperlinks, that would be the only thing that I did not know you could do I would always just copy and paste the website that I want to reference on a slide. But now I know that you can hyperlink the website so that it will take you straight the website.
